Stephanie Smith
Stephanie is a registered social worker and member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She holds an Honours Bachelor of Social Work from University of Waterloo, and a Master of Social Work through Wilfrid Laurier University.
Stephanie has years of experience working with children, youth and their parents and families. She has helped them find ways of coping with challenges including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma and developing emotion-regulation skills. She is especially passionate about assisting children and their loved ones to recognize their inherent value and identify and utilize their unique abilities, particularly to strengthen connections within caring relationships. Tailoring her approach to each client, Stephanie uses various methods including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), relaxation and mindfulness strategies, emotionally-focused therapy (EFT), and narrative techniques. She loves helping individuals and families develop insight and discover how to overcome in the midst of life’s challenges. Stephanie provides counselling primarily for children and teens. She is also able to support parents and guardians who are looking for support with the struggles their children are facing. |
