Angela Zhang (Art Therapy Intern)
Angela is a practicum student currently completing her Masters of Art Therapy Diploma at Toronto Art Therapy Institute (TATI). Angela completed a Bachelor's degree with Honours in Arts and Psychology from the University of Toronto in 2010. She is currently an Art Therapy Student and a Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She is a Student Member of Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA) and the Ontario Art Therapy Assocation(OATA). She has a background in working with children, youth, mothers, and families in church and mental health organizations.
Angela is passionate about integrating the healing power of art with a Christian worldview. Her training at TATI has equipped her with a deep understanding of both the therapeutic potential with the combination of creative expression. She believes that art provides a unique opportunity for clients to express their innermost emotions, challenges, and aspirations in ways that words often cannot. Angela offers a client-centered approach, where artistic expression serves as a powerful tool for emotional healing, self-discovery, and spiritual growth. Through painting, sculpture, drawing, collage, and other artistic mediums, she encourages clients to engage with their emotions and explore their inner world in a safe space. The process of art-making, paired with guided directives, helps clients navigate their journey of healing and personal growth. Angela is particularly interested in Narrative-Based Theory and Attachment-Based Theory, with a focus on Child and Adolescent Development, Grief and Loss, and Trauma-Informed Art Therapy. She believes that transformation happens through the process of healing, and healing happens when we are willing to walk beyond our scars to embrace new beginnings. Angela currently works out of our Burlington office on Tuesdays. To Book a Session with Angela, please contact the office and they will assist you with this. |
